James Knott Family Foundation

The Trust funds a wide range of charitable activities, including work with children and young people, older adults, disabled people, mental and physical health, arts and culture, heritage, environment, education and skills, sport and recreation, community development, homelessness, poverty and hardship, and armed forces causes. It supports core costs, salaries, project delivery, and capital works. The Trust's area of benefit covers Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, and Hartlepool, with special consideration given to activities known to have been of particular interest to Sir James Knott.

The Trust supports registered charities, community groups, social enterprises, and faith groups. Faith-based groups are eligible provided their activities are open to all. Organisations must be based and carry out their work within Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, or Hartlepool. The Trust does not fund individuals. It gives special consideration to charitable activities that reflect the founder's concerns about employment, housing, and community gathering, as well as military and maritime good causes.

The Trust provides funding for core costs, salaries, project delivery, and capital works. Multi-year funding is available. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and does not require match funding.
