John Beckwith Charitable Trust

The Trust primarily funds social welfare work tackling poverty, social isolation, exclusion, and community cohesion. It supports youth development through amateur sport, leadership training, mentoring, and sports-based empowerment programmes. Health and disability grants back medical research, therapeutic activities, respite care, and support for conditions such as cancer in teenagers. Education funding goes to after-school clubs, skills training, and employability for young people facing barriers. Arts programmes promote creative expression for isolated individuals. The Trust supports core costs, project activities, and preventative community-led approaches, including peer support groups, outreach, and holistic interventions. All work must benefit communities in England and Wales.

Registered charities based in England and Wales are eligible to apply. The Trust welcomes both grassroots innovators and established charities with strong governance and evidence-based practice. Priority is given to organisations supporting vulnerable children, young people, families, elderly residents, disabled people, and those with health challenges, including care leavers, families in crisis, rural isolated elderly, and youth with complex needs. Applications from both new and existing charity partners are considered.

The Trust does not fund large capital projects or one-off events. It favours unrestricted operational support and core costs over time-limited activities, and eschews major building or equipment appeals.
