John Moores Foundation

The Foundation funds work across a wide range of social welfare causes. These include children and youth, disability, mental and physical health, poverty and hardship, homelessness, education and skills, community development, refugees and migrants, domestic abuse, and carers. The Foundation supports core costs, salaries, training, and project delivery, offering flexible funding that can strengthen an organisation's infrastructure. Grants are available for organisations operating in Merseyside and Northern Ireland, with a focus on those that are locally rooted and serving disadvantaged communities.

The Foundation welcomes applications from registered charities, community interest companies, and other legally constituted community groups. It prioritises smaller organisations that are deeply embedded in their local communities and may have limited access to other funding sources. The Foundation supports groups working directly with people facing disadvantage, including children, young people, older people, disabled people, and those experiencing poverty or homelessness. Grants are only available to organisations, not to individuals.

The Foundation does not fund projects involving animals, arts and culture, sport, armed forces, or faith-based activities. Grants to individuals are also excluded. Applications for these areas will not be considered.

The Foundation provides flexible, multi-year grants of up to three years, particularly when salaries are required. It supports core costs, salaries, training, and project delivery, allowing organisations to strengthen their capacity. The Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications and values a dialogue-driven approach.
