Kate Farrer Foundation

The Foundation funds practical, tangible projects that advance its four core aims: relieving poverty (especially through self-sufficiency initiatives), education, health and sickness relief, and aid for war and disaster victims. Within these, it has a particular interest in maternal, neonatal, and paediatric care, healthcare access, and education for marginalised children. It supports grassroots efforts in medical and social welfare, with a global focus on low-resource settings, though it is open to UK projects. The Foundation favours initiatives that build lasting self-sufficiency and deliver direct, practical impact.

The Foundation accepts applications from UK-registered charities, with a particular interest in smaller, grassroots organisations. It supports work benefiting women, children, and communities affected by poverty, disability, health inequality, or crises. There is no religious restriction, and the Foundation is open to projects both in the UK and internationally, especially in low-resource settings. Unsolicited applications are welcome.

The Foundation does not support large-scale capital projects, such as building construction or major renovations. It also excludes initiatives that lack a clear, practical, and direct impact on the intended beneficiaries. The emphasis is on tangible, hands-on work rather than indirect or overly broad interventions.
