Only registered charities are eligible to apply. The foundation prioritises organisations working with impoverished families, children with learning barriers, cancer patients and their carers, isolated elderly people, ethnic minorities seeking cultural access, and communities advancing science and heritage preservation. They favour well-governed charities with proven impact, reflecting a family-stewarded, trustee-led approach to discernment. Charities must be based in or operating for the benefit of communities in England and Wales.

The foundation does not provide grants to individuals, nor does it support capital projects, endowments, or activities that are not part of a registered charity's core operations. These exclusions are consistent with their commitment to funding well-governed charities with proven impact and long-term sustainability.

The foundation provides project funding, core costs, and unrestricted grants. They welcome unsolicited applications and operate through a family-stewarded, trustee-led decision-making process, favouring robustly governed organisations with proven impact.
