Livewell Foundation

The foundation supports health-related causes, including mental health, youth, women, disability and elderly services. It funds salaries, project delivery, core costs, capital works, equipment and training, making it open to both project-based and core funding. The foundation is strictly local, only supporting work that directly benefits communities in Plymouth, South Hams and West Devon, covering postcodes PL1-PL10, PL16, PL19-PL21, and TQ7, TQ8, TQ10. It welcomes a broad range of activities, from direct service provision to building renovations and equipment purchases.

The foundation funds registered charities, CIOs, CICs, community groups and social enterprises. It does not fund individuals. Organisations must be able to demonstrate that their work directly benefits the general public in Plymouth, South Hams or West Devon. The foundation does not normally fund the core activities of national network bodies; it prefers independent local organisations. Applicants must be able to show sound financial governance.

The Livewell Foundation does not fund animal welfare, research, political activities, or work that replaces statutory funding. It excludes organisations run for private gain, religious activity that does not benefit the wider community, and the core activities of national network bodies such as MIND, Age UK or Alzheimer’s Society. It also does not fund retrospective costs, loan repayments, general appeals, grant-making by other organisations, or activities that benefit individuals rather than the wider community. Administration-only costs and projects without a defined benefit period are also excluded.

The Livewell Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible organisations. It offers both small and large grants, funding a broad range of costs including salaries, project delivery, core costs, capital works, equipment and training. The foundation is willing to fund core costs and capital projects, providing flexible support for a range of organisational needs.
