Manchester Guardian Society Charitable Trust

The Trust funds youth-focused groups such as scouts, guides, and clubs; initiatives aiding the sick, disabled, elderly, and disadvantaged; educationally oriented arts projects for children and young people; and local community associations. Grants emphasise defined revenue projects, with exceptional support for capital or running costs, fostering community enrichment through activities like youth programmes, disability support, elderly outreach, and neighbourhood development. All funded work must benefit communities within Greater Manchester.

Eligible applicants include UK-registered charities, community interest companies, and community groups based in Greater Manchester, with both organisations and beneficiaries residing there. The Trust prefers smaller, grassroots not-for-profits with formal governance. It accepts unsolicited applications and typically allows one application every two years after prior conditions are fulfilled.

The Trust generally does not fund core or recurrent costs, salaries (unless justified), equipment such as computers, individuals, political or religious purposes, other funders, or public services.
