Matt Hampson Foundation

The Foundation funds interventions that promote independence, wellbeing, and quality of life for young people with catastrophic sporting injuries. This includes specialist physiotherapy, adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs and fitness gear, mental health advice and support, advocacy, financial aid, and access to the Get Busy Living Centre's facilities. Residential stays, peer mentoring, and family adjustment programmes are also supported. The Foundation primarily supports young athletes from sports like rugby, hockey, and motorsport, and extends support to their families. While the Get Busy Living Centre is based in Leicestershire, the Foundation's reach is UK-wide, supporting individuals across the country.

The Foundation supports individuals who have sustained life-changing injuries through competitive sport, typically young people and young adults, along with their families. UK-registered charities working in the fields of rehabilitation, adapted sport, or disability support may receive funding by invitation only, with preference for smaller organisations closely aligned with the Foundation's expertise. The Foundation also occasionally supports others with serious physical disabilities where there is a strong fit with its mission.

The Foundation does not fund non-sporting injuries unless there is a strong alignment with its expertise and mission. It prioritises relational, person-centred aid over broad charity funding, so it is unlikely to support general charity projects outside the specific area of catastrophic sporting injury rehabilitation.

The Foundation works by invitation for charity partners, offering grants and direct support for equipment, therapy, and rehabilitation costs. For individuals, support is provided through a person-centred approach, often involving a combination of financial aid and access to the Get Busy Living Centre's programmes. Funding is tailored to each beneficiary's needs, with a focus on peer support and community integration.
