Newcis

NEWCIS, established in 1995, is one of Wales' largest providers of carer services, dedicated to supporting unpaid family carers and volunteers in North East Wales by addressing isolation, financial hardship, mental health challenges, and lack of information. Its mission empowers carers of all ages and backgrounds— including young carers and those supporting people with dementia, disabilities, children, adults, or the elderly—through accessible, holistic services rooted in values of empowerment, inclusivity, and wellbeing. Distinctively, NEWCIS combines direct service delivery, advocacy, and community engagement as a regional partner of Carers Trust Wales, leveraging deep local knowledge and a new Mold hub for wraparound support like information, training, grants, respite breaks, counselling, peer groups, hospital advocacy, emergency food, financial advice, and energy-saving workshops.

It prioritises interventions tackling immediate crises and building long-term resilience, focusing on mental health, financial stability, and social connections via project funding, emergency relief, and respite for carers, rather than core organisational costs.

Eligible partners are UK-registered charities and community groups with a local presence in Denbighshire, Flintshire, or Wrexham, preferably small to medium-sized with carer support experience; no strict income thresholds apply, but no religious restrictions. NEWCIS does not accept unsolicited applications—organisations must be invited via partnerships or Carers Trust Wales processes, with no public deadlines or meeting frequencies published; monitor both websites for opportunities. Individual carer grants are modest and needs-based, with larger rounds (e.g., up to £2 million) distributed to partners for services.

Unlike traditional funders, NEWCIS acts primarily as a service deliverer, excluding unrestricted or core funding to charities and directing grants to carers themselves, setting it apart as an essential, carer-centric hub in North East Wales.
