Northwick Trust

The Trust supports work across several thematic areas. These include conservation and protection of the natural environment; opportunities that enhance the lives of mentally and physically disabled people; youth projects that strengthen communities; and relief from suffering and hardship, particularly for children, young people, the elderly and disabled people. It funds both project-specific initiatives and core costs, as long as they align with these priorities. The Trust looks for charities and voluntary bodies with strong financial discipline and clear community benefit. Geographically, its operations are across the UK, with openness to overseas projects. Grants tend to be modest, reflecting the Trust's preference for small to medium-sized organisations that can demonstrate tangible outcomes.

The Trust accepts applications from registered charities and other charitable institutions. It does not fund individuals or unregistered groups. Preference goes to small and medium-sized organisations with solid governance, scale-appropriate operations and a UK base. There are no strict income thresholds, but applicants should be able to show financial discipline and lasting community benefit. The Trust is particularly interested in work supporting the vulnerable groups named in its mission. There are no religious restrictions, and charities from any faith background are welcome to apply. All applicants must be organisations, not individuals.

The Trust avoids large-scale or poorly governed entities. It will not support organisations that lack robust management, clear accountability or a strong track record. It focuses on high-impact, efficient operations, so applicants with high administration costs or unreasonably high senior executive pay are unlikely to be successful. The Trust does not make grants to individuals or to non-registered bodies.

The Trust makes modest grants and is open to both project-specific costs and core costs. It welcomes unsolicited applications and considers each on its merits. The Trust places strong emphasis on evaluation: it often visits projects and provides feedback, aiming to ensure that funding leads to tangible outcomes. Grants are made at the trustees' discretion, with a preference for organisations that can demonstrate effectiveness relative to the size of grant.
