Okehampton United Charity

The Trust supports a wide range of work that directly benefits residents of Okehampton and its hamlets. This includes community facilities, social welfare services, educational advancement such as school programmes, post-16 study and apprenticeships, recreation, arts, sports, youth projects, and crisis relief. All funded activity must clearly serve the local area, and the Trust takes a generalist approach, funding both charitable projects and ongoing community needs.

Registered charities, community groups, schools, sports clubs, unincorporated organisations, and individuals can apply, provided the activity directly benefits residents of Okehampton, Brightley, Southcott, Meldon, or Stockley. The Trust has no religious restrictions and welcomes applications from both organisations and individuals. Local roots and a clear link to the defined area are essential.

The Trust does not fund work that falls outside its defined geographic boundaries or that lacks a clear direct benefit to local residents. It also does not support activities that do not align with its charitable objectives of relieving hardship, advancing education, or enhancing community wellbeing.

The Trust provides grants to organisations and individuals through its United Charity branch. It welcomes unsolicited applications and supports a broad range of charitable work within its defined area. Funding is delivered as one-off grants, with no specified restriction on project or core costs, though each application is assessed on its own merits.
