Ostrich Charitable Trust

The Trust funds a broad spectrum of charitable activities across England and Wales. This includes health services such as mental health counselling and support for complex health needs; education initiatives like SEND provision and youth employment training; welfare programmes addressing poverty, homelessness prevention, and social isolation relief through befriending and peer support groups; arts and cultural projects including choirs and creative therapies; disability interventions such as respite care and inclusive day services; elderly care via day centres and outreach; and community development through drop-in centres and advocacy. The Trust also supports refugee support, addiction recovery, and domestic abuse services.

Registered charities operating throughout England and Wales are eligible to apply. The Trust favours grassroots charities, religious organisations, arts ensembles, and welfare providers with authentic community impact and lived experience leadership. Beneficiaries include children and young people aged 5-25 facing barriers, families in crisis, carers, isolated older people, ethnic minorities, homeless individuals, care leavers, veterans, and LGBTQ+ groups. There is no religious restriction, and the Trust prioritises vulnerable local communities.

The Trust has no fixed thematic exclusions. The only stated restriction is avoiding decisions where trustees have a conflict of interest. As a generalist funder, it considers a wide range of charitable purposes.

The Trust makes flexible, discretionary grants, supporting core operations, capacity building, and community empowerment. Unsolicited applications are accepted, and the Trust favours a responsive, needs-based approach guided by trustees. It operates as a family-stewarded entity with a long-term perspective.
