The Trust supports thematic priorities including poverty relief, aid for disadvantaged and disabled children such as hospice care and leisure or learning access, family resilience amid health or economic crises, and emergency hardship support. Grants go to small-to-medium voluntary organisations, grassroots community groups, and individuals facing severe need, covering projects, core costs, revenue, and urgent relief—especially where public services fall short. While there is a preference for the London Borough of Merton and Wimbledon, applications from across the UK are considered if they align with the Trust's objectives.

UK-registered charities and community groups are eligible to apply, with no strict income limits favouring smaller entities without large public funding. The Trust prioritises the most disadvantaged, particularly children, young people, and families in crisis. Local roots in the London Borough of Merton or Wimbledon are valued, but applications from any geographic base within the UK are accepted if the work aligns with the Trust's charitable objects.

The Trust excludes statutory obligations and capital projects, unless the latter are urgently needed to alleviate hardship or distress. Applications from or on behalf of large organisations that already have significant public funding are not typically considered.

The Trust offers flexible, needs-led funding, supporting both core costs and project costs. It uses a blend of proactive and responsive approaches, with trustees maintaining personal oversight. Unsolicited applications are welcomed, and the Trust encourages partnerships to maximise impact.
