RCN Foundation

The Foundation funds the professional development of nurses, midwives, and care staff across the UK, including the Channel Islands. Grants support training, career development, and the acquisition of specialist skills in areas such as mental health, older people’s care, adult social care, and children and young people’s mental health. They also fund education and skills development aimed at improving physical health outcomes. The work they support takes place in a wide range of settings, from hospitals and clinics to care homes and community services.

Individual registered nurses, midwives, care support workers, and care assistants working in the UK are eligible to apply. The Foundation prioritises practitioners who are directly involved in patient care and who wish to develop their expertise in specific fields such as mental health or older people’s care. Applicants should be based in the UK, including the Channel Islands. The Foundation does not fund organisations or teams, only individuals.

The Foundation does not fund organisations, projects, or initiatives that are unrelated to nursing, midwifery, or care support. They also do not support retrospective costs or applications made on behalf of another person. Equipment, transport, and event costs are not covered under most programmes.

The RCN Foundation makes grants to individuals for education and professional development. They welcome unsolicited applications from eligible practitioners. Grants are typically for training courses, specialist qualifications, or career development activities. The Foundation does not fund core organisational costs or project-based work.
