Richmond Trust Fund

The trust funds education projects, social welfare services, essential living costs, community engagement, faith-based activities, and poverty alleviation. It supports both project costs and core costs, and occasionally offers emergency aid. Work is concentrated in three areas: Gateshead, Manchester City, and London, with a preference for small to medium-sized grassroots charities and community groups. The trust also provides direct support to individuals alongside charitable organisations, reflecting its dual approach to enhancing wellbeing, opportunity, and inclusion.

UK-registered charities and community groups based in Gateshead, Manchester City, or London are eligible to apply. The trust prioritises initiatives that benefit children and young people, elderly individuals, ethnic and racial communities, and voluntary bodies. It prefers small to medium-sized grassroots organisations. While the trust may also support individuals directly, organisational applicants must be rooted in the specified geographic areas.

The trust does not fund capital projects, such as building works or major equipment purchases, nor does it support statutory bodies like local authorities. All other charitable purposes are considered within its generalist remit.

Funding is by invitation only, based on referrals or trustee-identified need. The trust awards grants on a discretionary basis, covering project costs, core costs, and occasional emergency aid. It does not accept unsolicited applications, and its flexible approach allows it to respond to both immediate hardship and longer-term social advancement.
