Rotary International District 1190 Trust Fund

The Trust funds a wide range of activities including emergency disaster aid, community development, training, and project delivery. Support is directed at causes such as poverty relief, education and training, health and lifesaving efforts, disability support, housing, environmental conservation, and services for children, youth, elderly, and disabled people. Work is focused within Cumbria and Lancashire, with some international reach through Global Grants that require match funding. The Trust supports both local and international initiatives, covering project delivery and training costs. Emergency disaster aid is available through a rolling District Disaster Grants programme for urgent needs within Cumbria and Lancashire. The Trust does not fund core costs, unrestricted funding, or large multi-year projects, instead prioritising club-led, impactful initiatives that align with Rotary values.

Only Rotary clubs in District 1190 (covering Cumbria and Lancashire) may apply for grants. Unsolicited applications from the general public or external charities are not accepted. Clubs must be qualified and have completed an annual Memorandum of Understanding and training to be eligible. The Trust distributes its entire allocation between clubs that have applied for District Grants, with one lump sum per Rotary year. There are no income or size restrictions on clubs, and no religious barriers. Beneficiaries include people in poverty, those needing education or health support, disabled people, children, youth, and the elderly, all served through Rotary-led projects.

The Trust does not accept unsolicited applications from the general public or external charities. It does not fund core costs, unrestricted funding, or large multi-year projects. Only Rotary clubs in District 1190 may apply; individuals and non-Rotary organisations cannot apply directly. The Trust does not fund activities outside Cumbria and Lancashire except through Global Grants, which require match funding.
