Rothley Trust

The Rothley Trust funds work that benefits children and young people, disabled people, veterans, and local communities. Priority areas include community development, disability support, education and skills, physical health, armed forces, and poverty or hardship. Through Energy Grants, they support equipment and capital works that help groups lower their energy costs, such as insulation or energy-efficient lighting. Small Grants fund equipment, capital works, and project delivery costs for activities like after-school clubs, youth work, respite care, day services, and befriending schemes. The Trust operates across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham, and Cleveland.

Registered charities, community interest companies (CICs), and community groups operating in the North East of England can apply. Priority is given to organisations working in disadvantaged areas and those dealing with people who have difficulties or disabilities. Local community groups at grass roots level requiring support are also prioritised. The Trust does not fund individuals, residents' associations, parish councils, or University of the 3rd Age.

The Rothley Trust does not fund individuals, large energy projects such as solar panels or wind turbines, or activities related to faith, arts and culture, heritage, animals, or sport and recreation. They also exclude repair of buildings used solely for worship, further education, human rights or conflict resolution (except family mediation), residents' associations, parish councils, and University of the 3rd Age.

The Trust offers two distinct grant programmes: Energy Grants and Small Grants, each with its own theme and focus. They welcome unsolicited applications and support equipment, capital works, and project delivery costs. Funding is typically one-off and directed at specific projects or costs rather than ongoing core funding.
