Rowland Hill Memorial and Benevolent Fund

The Fund supports individuals and families from the postal community facing hardship due to poverty, age, infirmity, health challenges, or homelessness. It provides one-off grants for specific essential needs, including debt relief, funeral costs, rent or mortgage arrears, utility bills, emergency home repairs, mobility aids, and disability adaptations. The focus is on preventing poverty, supporting disability, ensuring housing stability, and aiding children, young people, the elderly, and disabled individuals. The Fund operates across the whole of the UK, with no geographic restrictions beyond assessing need.

Eligibility is strictly limited to individuals and families who are current or former employees of Royal Mail Group Ltd, Post Office Ltd, Parcelforce Worldwide, or Royal Mail Property & Facilities Solutions, along with their dependants. The Fund prioritises those facing hardship from poverty, age, infirmity, health challenges, or homelessness, with a particular focus on children, young people, the elderly, and disabled individuals. Organisations are not supported. Applications are welcomed from eligible individuals or consented third parties, with no income restrictions beyond need assessment.

The Fund does not support organisations. It also excludes private medical care, cost-of-living aid, strike pay, loans, weddings, car or vet repairs, and broadband costs. Grants are not provided for these purposes.

The Fund provides one-off grants, paid directly to suppliers such as landlords or utilities, to cover documented essential costs. It welcomes unsolicited applications and assesses each case individually. The Fund partners closely with Royal Mail and Post Office for awareness and collaborates with other charities to achieve holistic impact within its niche postal beneficiary base.
