Sabina Sutherland Charitable Trust

The Trust funds church heritage and religious programming, including building improvements and restoration for parish churches. It supports poverty alleviation initiatives for economically disadvantaged people, homeless individuals, socially excluded groups, and care experienced young people. Environmental protection efforts such as wildlife conservation and habitat restoration are also funded, alongside occasional arts, culture, and science activities promoting heritage education and community engagement. Supported interventions include capital projects for church fabric repairs, revenue funding for religious outreach and befriending schemes, core costs for poverty relief drop-in centres, and project grants for wildlife rehabilitation. The Trust particularly welcomes applications that combine two or more of its priority sectors. Grants are made throughout England and Wales.

The Trust makes grants to registered charities and community groups. It prioritises organisations working with economically disadvantaged people, homeless individuals, socially excluded groups, care experienced young people, religious communities, and wildlife conservation. There is no religious restriction; both faith-based and secular organisations are considered. The Trust favours grassroots voluntary organisations delivering targeted, flexible support. Applications are welcomed from across England and Wales.

The Trust does not fund non-charitable purposes or large-scale multi-year programmes. It avoids duplicating well-resourced services and does not routinely fund individuals. Activities outside the scope of UK public benefit law are also excluded.

The Trust makes grants for capital projects, revenue funding, core costs, and project grants. It welcomes unsolicited applications and favours modest, targeted interventions. The Trustees exercise significant discretion and particularly welcome applications that combine two or more of their priority sectors.
