Scorpion Charitable Trust

The Trust funds a wide range of charitable activities across England and Wales. Its particular passion is maritime heritage conservation, including shipwreck preservation, underwater archaeology, historic vessel restoration, and nautical museum enhancements. It also supports archaeology projects, arts initiatives, scientific and historical research, and programmes for children and disabled young people such as therapeutic activities, inclusive play schemes, and respite care. Poverty relief efforts addressing food insecurity and homelessness, and medical care interventions for chronic conditions are also within scope. Funded activities emphasise project-based interventions like capital works for heritage sites, research fellowships, arts outreach, disability day services, and medical equipment provision.

The Trust only accepts applications from registered charities operating in England and Wales. It supports organisations working with families in crisis, people with chronic conditions, and young people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, or complex health needs. Charities delivering high-impact project work in heritage, arts, research, disability, poverty, or health are encouraged to apply. There is no religious restriction. Unsolicited applications are welcome.

The Trust does not fund non-UK registered charities, ongoing core costs, or speculative proposals lacking clear merit. It also avoids duplicative or low-impact efforts, and will not support routine operational expenses or projects that do not demonstrate clear charitable outcomes. Applications from organisations outside England and Wales are excluded, as are proposals that merely replicate existing provision without adding value.

The Trust makes discretionary, one-off project grants, typically for project-based interventions rather than routine operations. It favours substantial awards that sustain vital activities, foster research, and protect cultural assets. Unsolicited applications are welcome, and decisions are based on merit and trustee expertise.
