Souter Charitable Trust

The Trust’s funding reaches vulnerable individuals and communities in the UK and overseas. For overseas work, the Trust requires delivery through a UK-registered charity, ensuring accountability and oversight. The Trust’s Christian values guide its holistic approach, caring for spiritual and physical needs. It does not restrict funding to faith-based organisations, welcoming secular charities that align with its mission of relieving human suffering.

UK-registered charities can apply, with a preference for small to medium-sized organisations. The Trust does not set formal income limits. It welcomes applications from both faith-based and secular charities. Beneficiaries are the general public, with a focus on vulnerable individuals and communities. The Trust funds work in the UK or overseas, but overseas projects must be delivered through a UK-registered charity. There is no restriction on religious context; the Trust supports charities of any faith or none, as long as they align with its mission to relieve human suffering.

The Trust does not fund capital building or renovation works. It also excludes salaries and other staff costs from its grants. Additionally, individual health or education needs are not supported. The Trust does not fund work that falls outside its core causes of poverty, health, and faith.

Grants are one-off awards, typically modest in size, enabling charities to respond to immediate needs. The Trust supports both project delivery costs and core costs. It welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible charities. The Trust does not offer multi-year funding; each grant is a single payment. This flexible approach allows charities to use funds where they are most needed within the funded purposes.
