Southway Housing Trust

The Beautiful South Fund supports projects in the south Manchester neighbourhoods of Burnage, Chorlton Park, Didsbury East, Didsbury West, Old Moat, and Withington. Priorities include improving physical or mental wellbeing, encouraging friendly social contact, increasing community involvement, improving local green spaces, and easing the impacts of the rising cost of living. Grants cover equipment, training, events, and transport for activities that address mental health, physical health, community development, environment, and poverty or hardship.

Registered charities, community groups, and individuals can apply, with a strong emphasis on resident-led, local initiatives. The fund is open to groups working within the specified south Manchester wards. Beneficiaries are the general public, with a focus on fostering neighbourliness and community connections. There is no religious restriction; projects must not promote political or religious beliefs.

The fund excludes salaries, core costs, and capital works. Statutory organisations such as local authorities and schools are ineligible, as are activities that promote political or religious beliefs, projects that have already taken place or start before funding is awarded, and activities carried out for profit. Organisations that have not provided monitoring information when requested are also excluded.

The Beautiful South Fund offers one-off grants with no requirement for match funding. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and emphasises resident-led, place-based regeneration. Funding is provided for specific projects rather than as ongoing support, reflecting a commitment to grassroots, community-driven initiatives.
