Stafford Trust

The Trust funds work in children and youth, physical health, animal welfare, armed forces and seafarers’ welfare, and community development. It also supports child and adult welfare, including older people and those in ill-health, medical research, local community projects, and disaster and emergency services. Grants can be used for capital works, core costs, and salaries. While the Trust accepts applications from across the UK, it prioritises organisations operating in Scotland.

Only registered charities across the UK are eligible to apply. The Trust prioritises organisations that are based in or whose work significantly benefits Scotland. There is no religious restriction. Charities of any size may apply, though the Trust favours established organisations with a track record of effective outcomes.

The Trust does not fund non-charitable organisations, individuals, or projects that lack wider societal benefit. It does not support activities that are not aligned with its mission of promoting welfare, alleviating distress, and enabling research.

The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and supports a range of costs, including capital works, core costs, and salaries. It awards grants as one-off payments, typically funding both project and revenue needs. The Trust does not require match funding and works with charities on a case-by-case basis.
