Stanton Ballard Charitable Trust

The Trust funds a broad range of causes, including poverty and hardship relief, disability support, physical and mental health services, and work with older people, children and young people, and refugees and migrants. It supports practical, direct interventions that benefit the residents of Oxfordshire, with a particular emphasis on Oxford and its neighbourhood. The Trust is open to funding a variety of activities, from emergency support to ongoing services, as long as they directly address the needs of local people facing hardship.

Registered charities and community groups based in or working for the benefit of Oxfordshire can apply for organisational funding. The Trust also supports individuals, but only through referrals from recognised statutory or voluntary agencies; it does not accept applications directly from individuals. National charities may apply if they can demonstrate direct benefit to Oxfordshire residents. The Trust gives priority to applications that most directly provide relief of hardship.

The Trust does not normally fund capital works, tuition fees, or debt repayment, except for Debt Relief Order costs. It also does not usually fund floor coverings for new tenancies where the property is newly built or previous coverings have been removed by the landlord, unless there are medical or other additional factors. Grants to individuals are only made via referral, and national charities must show direct Oxfordshire benefit.

The Trust makes grants to organisations and, through referrals, to individuals. Payments for individual support are made to the referring agency rather than directly to the beneficiary. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible organisations and considers them on a rolling basis, with decisions made by trustees who meet regularly.
