Stonyhurst Foundation

The Foundation funds means-tested bursaries and talent scholarships for pupils at Stonyhurst College and Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall. Support covers tuition, boarding, and related educational expenses. Bursaries are designed to remove financial barriers for families from disadvantaged backgrounds, while scholarship opportunities exist in academic, arts, and music. Funding is exclusively for use at these two schools; no programme or project outside the schools is considered. The focus is on education, youth, and addressing poverty through school fee support.

The Foundation supports families who have a child attending Stonyhurst College or Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall, or who are applying for entry. Priority is given to households from disadvantaged backgrounds, both in the UK and internationally, who demonstrate financial need. Only individual families and pupils are eligible – external organisations, charities, or other educational institutions cannot apply. Eligibility is assessed by the schools’ Admissions team based on financial need and family circumstances.

The Foundation does not fund general projects, core funding, capacity-building, or any activities outside Stonyhurst College and Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall. It cannot support other schools, charities, or organisations. Unsolicited applications from external bodies are not accepted. All support is directed exclusively to means-tested pupil bursaries and talent scholarships at the two named schools.

The Foundation is a permanently endowed fund that provides bursaries and scholarships directly to pupils. Funding is awarded on a means-tested basis. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited applications; all support is initiated through the schools’ admissions and assessment process.
