The Foundation funds Mandarin programme integration in schools, professional teacher training, and cultural activities that enhance pupil engagement. It supports capacity-building for Chinese language provision, including teacher development through innovative pedagogies such as micro-fluency and sentence mining methods. The Foundation also enables student trips to China, educator conferences, and collaborative school networks to foster long-term impact. Funding covers project and programme costs, including teaching, development, and activities. Geographically, the Foundation focuses on specific UK cities including London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester, Norwich, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Oxford, and Sheffield. It prioritises direct pupil access and disadvantaged outreach, ensuring Mandarin is accessible to all children.

Eligible applicants are pre-selected academic institutions, including large educational trusts, multi-academy sponsors, and school groups operating in specific UK cities. The Foundation prioritises organisations that can reach disadvantaged pupils and broaden access to Mandarin. Applications are by invitation only; the Foundation strategically initiates partnerships with schools and trusts that align with its mission. It does not accept unsolicited applications from small charities, grassroots groups, or individuals.
