Talbot Trust

The Trusts supports work that addresses health inequalities by enabling people to access local green spaces. Funded activities include being active outdoors or simply benefiting from nature. Causes funded are mental health, physical health, and the environment. Grants can be used for core costs or project delivery. The target area is Sheffield and surrounding areas in Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster, and Rotherham. Priority is given to initiatives that clearly benefit people living in areas ranked below the national average for deprivation. The Trusts funds organisations that help people from these communities to engage with nature, whether through structured activities or quiet enjoyment.

Eligible applicants are registered charities and community groups based in and working within the target area of Sheffield, Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster, and Rotherham. The Trusts prioritises organisations led by people who live and work locally, and that serve communities facing deprivation. Beneficiaries include people with health needs, disabilities, or those experiencing disadvantage. The Trusts supports smaller organisations with a modest turnover. Groups must demonstrate that their work directly benefits people in areas ranked below the national average for deprivation.

The Trusts does not fund activities that take place outside its target area of Sheffield and surrounding areas. It also excludes activities that do not clearly benefit people living in areas ranked below the national average for deprivation. Additionally, organisations led by people who do not live and work in the target area are not supported.

The Trusts provides grants that can cover core costs or project delivery. It has a preference for grassroots organisations led by people who live and work locally. The Trusts values collaboration and local impact, and supports initiatives that enable people to access green spaces for health and wellbeing.
