Trussell Trust

The Trust funds interventions tackling acute and structural food insecurity, prioritising families, children, and individuals hit by insufficient income, benefit delays, or welfare changes. Supported activities include food parcels, signposting to services, capacity building, staff and volunteer training, core costs for food bank operations, emergency relief, and advocacy campaigns such as Essentials Guarantee and #5WeeksTooLong, focusing on immediate relief and systemic reform. These efforts span the whole UK, operating through a network of over 1,700 centres.

Eligible applicants are limited to existing network partners—UK-registered charities and community groups, typically grassroots or volunteer-led. New organisations must join via formal affiliation, as unsolicited applications are not accepted. The Trust prioritises those supporting families, children, and individuals affected by insufficient income, benefit delays, or welfare changes. There is no religious restriction on applicants.

The Trust does not fund general charity work or unrestricted funds unrelated to food poverty. Capital projects and non-poverty initiatives are excluded. Support is directed only to food poverty projects within its network.
