Two Magpies Fund

Two Magpies Fund, a philanthropic foundation registered as a charitable incorporated organisation in May 2020, supports small local charities and community groups tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) and alleviating child poverty in London's Camden, Islington, Haringey, and Westminster boroughs. Led by CEO Kirsten Westlake and trustees including chair Stian Westlake, its mission is to deliver swift, practical funding to frontline organisations aiding women survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, forced marriage, FGM, and modern slavery, alongside primary school-aged children facing poverty through services like counselling, homework clubs, food banks, hostels, beauty banks, and baby banks. Rooted in trust-based philanthropy, it emphasises minimal bureaucracy, multi-year unrestricted or core grants, and relational partnerships to foster community safety and long-term change.

The fund prioritises projects and operational costs for grassroots groups providing direct, holistic support that enhances recovery, safety, and life chances for at-risk women and children, with a track record of backing specialist advice, emergency aid, and deprivation-tackling initiatives.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities or community groups based strictly in the four boroughs, favouring small to medium-sized organisations without formal income thresholds. Currently invite-only for previously supported or specifically invited entities, as applications are closed until a September 2026 review; unsolicited proposals are not accepted.

Grants typically range from £5,000 to £50,000 (mostly lower end), including project, core, unrestricted multi-year, and occasional one-off or equipment funding. It excludes individuals, faith-based organisations, research, and large capital projects, standing out for its hyper-local focus, responsive culture, and commitment to empowering resilient local providers for systemic impact.
