Wheelwrights' Charity

The Charity supports cause areas at the intersection of disability mobility, sport, education, recreation, and traditional craft. It funds bespoke adaptive sports wheelchairs, mobility aids, wheelchair racing tracks, elite Paralympic training, carriage driving for disabled drivers, and wheelwrighting apprenticeships with mentoring. These are typically project-based costs for specialist equipment, training, and grants. Geographically, there are no restrictions but projects have a UK-wide focus, often delivered through partners such as WheelPower, Treloar’s School, and BattleBack programmes. The Charity also supports the preservation of wheelwrighting skills through apprenticeships and mentoring.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities, preferably small to medium-sized with a clear focus on disability mobility, sport, education, recreation, or wheelwrighting craft. The Charity prioritises physically disabled children and young people, spinal injury survivors, injured veterans, and craft apprentices. There are no geographic restrictions, but the Charity does not accept unsolicited applications. Instead, it works through existing partners and referrals, so organisations aligned with its mission are encouraged to explore partnerships with its established network.
