Worshipful Company of Information Technologists Charity

WCIT Charity funds projects that make use of information technology and relate to one or more of its priority areas: education, inclusion, tech for charities, and public understanding of technology. Supported work includes digital skills training, mental health apps, accessibility tools, and digital transformation for the charity sector. The charity favours innovative IT-driven approaches and supports work across the United Kingdom, with a focus on projects that benefit disadvantaged groups such as children and young people, homeless individuals, people with disabilities, and those in prisons.

Registered charities and community interest companies (CICs) based in the UK are eligible to apply. The charity prioritises small to medium-sized organisations that rely on external funding and integrate technology into their strategic priorities. Organisations must have been operating for at least one year and have an annual income or reserves under a modest threshold. Projects must benefit at least 25 people directly, and the service cost per beneficiary must be kept low. The charity does not fund individuals, schools, academies, PTAs, local authorities, or large national charities with significant income.

WCIT Charity does not fund core costs, existing projects or services, consultancy costs, endowments, commercially available off-the-shelf products, apps or websites for income generation or staff administration, networking or telephony costs, loans or debt repayments, political or lobbying work, or projects where the financial request is less than a quarter of the entire budget. Start-up organisations less than a year old or with no income or accounts are also excluded.

WCIT Charity provides one-off grants, with a distinctive model that combines financial support with pro bono IT mentorship from senior technology professionals. The charity welcomes unsolicited applications and funds projects across the UK. All funded work must make use of information technology and align with the charity's priority areas.
