Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust

YDMT supports projects in environment, heritage, community development, and education and skills. They fund practical interventions such as native woodland and hedgerow planting, meadow restoration, dry stone wall conservation, rural apprenticeships, and environmental education. Projects must take place within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Nidderdale National Landscape, or close to their boundaries, benefiting rural communities and the general public. The Trust encourages applicants to seek match-funding for their projects.

Applications are welcomed from a wide range of organisations and individuals, including voluntary and community groups, charities, social enterprises, public bodies, partnerships, young people, individuals, landowners, farmers, and businesses. There is no strict income threshold, and the Trust favours small to medium grassroots organisations. Projects must primarily operate within the Yorkshire Dales National Park or Nidderdale National Landscape, or their fringe areas. No faith-based restrictions apply.

YDMT does not fund projects that do not help deliver the Trust’s aims, have little or no public benefit, or lack the landowner’s consent. They also exclude projects where a significant proportion of costs could be met by other grant schemes, statutory obligations, party political activity, and religious activities accessible only to people of a particular faith.

YDMT offers grants on a rolling basis, with applications accepted at any time. Grants are available for up to 100% of project costs, though applicants are encouraged to seek match-funding. The Trust supports both project costs and core costs. Unsolicited applications are welcome, and the process is open and accessible to a broad range of applicants.
