Z V M Rangoonwala Foundation

The Z V M Rangoonwala Foundation, a UK-registered family charity established in 1976 from the 1967 ZVMG Rangoonwala Trust in Pakistan, upholds founder Mohamed Aly Rangoonwala's vision of serving humanity by empowering communities regardless of race, creed, or religion. Chaired by Asif Rangoonwala CBE with family leadership, it emphasizes a "hand up, not a handout" ethos, promoting self-reliance, inclusivity, and sustainable impact through strategic focuses on livelihoods, healthcare, community empowerment, and environment. Over four decades, it has invested over £1.9m annually in relief of hardship, elderly care, education, arts advancement, disability support, and community projects, favoring innovative pilots, measurable outcomes, and long-term partnerships for vulnerable groups.

It funds project costs, core funding, capacity building, capital grants, and emergency relief via Small Grants (up to £5,000, unrestricted), One-off Fund (up to £30,000 for equipment/capital), and Partnership Fund (£15,000–£50,000/year for 2–5 years, including M&E and training). Eligible applicants include UK-registered charities, community groups, academic institutions, NGOs, schools, health/vocational centres, and disability/relief organizations with annual income under £1m for small UK grants; no religious restrictions, prioritizing small-to-medium entities demonstrating impact and alignment with empowerment values. UK applications support UK- or Pakistan-based projects; Pakistan enquiries via separate trust.

Unsolicited small UK grants are rolling with quarterly reviews (March/June/September/December); larger grants require invitation-only EOI (Sep–Nov), concept notes (Dec 15), and full apps (Mar 15), with decisions by April. It excludes political/legislative activities, distinguishing itself through family continuity, global reach (UK/Pakistan/India), professional oversight, and commitment to transformative, community-led change.
