Eligible applicants include UK-registered charities, community groups, and academic institutions with no geographic restrictions, though priority favors Scotland/Fife and South Africa-aligned projects; no formal income thresholds apply, but smaller, grassroots organizations are preferred. Applications start with an Expression of Interest (EOI) by post, due 1 July 2025; shortlisted applicants submit full forms by 1 August 2025, with trustee decisions at the annual October meeting. Typical one-off grants range from £5,000 to £25,000 for project delivery or minor capital costs.

The Foundation excludes statutory bodies, elite sport, individuals, major infrastructure, core costs, and disaster relief. Distinctively tied to the 'Home of Golf,' it stands out for uniting sport, heritage, and education in host locales, favoring mission-aligned partners like Scottish Golf or local Fife charities for enduring community impact.
