Beeching Trust

The Trust funds creative arts programmes and cultural heritage preservation that promote social cohesion for isolated individuals and disadvantaged communities. In education, it supports after-school clubs, skills training, and SEND provision for children and young people aged 5-19 facing learning disabilities, ADHD, or economic hardship. Environmental grants focus on green spaces, conservation, and community-led sustainability, while health interventions include mental health counselling, therapeutic activities, and peer support for those with complex health needs. Projects alleviating poverty, youth unemployment, homelessness, and food insecurity are also supported, particularly for families, elderly residents, and ethnic minorities in underserved areas. Geographically, the Trust prioritises Oxfordshire, especially rural communities and urban disadvantaged neighbourhoods, but also considers applications from across England and Wales.

Only organisations may apply, specifically registered charities and community groups. The Trust prioritises disadvantaged groups including isolated individuals, children and young people with SEND, families, elderly residents, and ethnic minorities in underserved areas. While the Trust has a strong preference for Oxfordshire-based organisations serving local communities, it also accepts applications from elsewhere in England and Wales. Organisations should demonstrate local roots and a clear focus on the priority themes.

The Trust does not fund individuals, expeditions, political parties, religious promotion, animal welfare, non-UK charities, core costs, capital projects, or activities outside its priority themes. This ensures its resources are directed towards organisational delivery within its chosen areas.

The Trust offers selective project grants and welcomes unsolicited applications. It favours evidence-based, community-led interventions that demonstrate potential for lasting change. Funding is for project costs only, as core costs are excluded.
