Big Ben Trust

The Trust funds religious education and training, resources for Jewish worship and culture, and direct assistance for individuals or organisations addressing hardship, deprivation, or social exclusion. Grants support both project activities, such as faith-based programmes and community services, and core costs for Jewish religious institutions, community centres, and welfare bodies serving Hackney's Jewish population. Occasional unrestricted funding is available for grassroots initiatives. All funding is directed within Hackney, London, with a focus on modest, localised impact.

Eligible applicants are limited to UK-registered charities and community groups with a Jewish focus operating in Hackney. The Trust prioritises small, local entities and shows no interest in large national organisations. There are no strict income thresholds, but the emphasis is on grassroots groups serving the local Orthodox Jewish community. Beneficiaries are primarily individuals and families within Hackney's Jewish population experiencing poverty or social exclusion.

The Trust does not fund commercial activities, trustee benefits, non-Jewish causes, or projects outside Hackney. This ensures precise alignment with its faith-driven poverty relief mission and local focus.

Funding is by invitation only; unsolicited applications are not accepted. Grants support project activities and core costs, with occasional unrestricted funding for grassroots initiatives. The Trust operates at trustee discretion, with no published application process or set timings.
