Bolton Community and Voluntary Services

Bolton CVS funds projects addressing disadvantage, poverty, health inequalities, social isolation, and community wellbeing. Priorities include health and wellbeing, children and young people, cost of living support, training and employment skills, connecting communities, and the environment. Supported activities encompass age-friendly initiatives, youth-led social action, resilience-building collaborations, and environmental projects. Grants cover core costs, project delivery, equipment, and events. All funded work must benefit residents of the Bolton Metropolitan Borough area.

Constituted voluntary or community groups, registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, and community benefit societies based in and serving the Borough of Bolton are eligible. Some programmes also accept applications from individuals who are tenants of specific landlords. The funder prioritises groups that support local people, including children, young people, older adults, and those facing disadvantage or social isolation. Faith-based organisations may apply for non-faith activities.

Bolton CVS does not fund activities of a political or exclusively religious nature, items that only benefit an individual, equipment for one-off events, projects with high ongoing costs or requiring specialist skills to maintain, general fundraising appeals on behalf of another organisation, trips, outings, meals, parties without significant community benefit, or the purchase of alcohol.

Grants are one-off and can support core costs, project delivery, equipment, and events. The funder welcomes unsolicited applications and works directly with local groups. There is no indication of multi-year funding or match funding requirements.
