Canary Wharf Contractors Fund

The Fund supports relief of poverty and hardship, educational and training initiatives in building, engineering and architecture, health and wellbeing for children and families, welfare and healthcare services, amateur sports, disability support and general charitable activities. It funds projects such as youth sports, family support for critically ill children and employability programmes with direct local impact. Work must primarily benefit residents of Tower Hamlets, with a focus on small-to-medium grassroots entities operating in or around Canary Wharf and East London.

Eligible applicants include registered charities, community interest companies, community groups, social enterprises, faith groups and schools. The Fund prioritises small-to-medium grassroots entities that operate in or benefit Tower Hamlets residents. It gives special regard to persons and families who have been employed in the building and engineering trades. Unsolicited applications are accepted.

The Fund does not support capital-only projects, unrestricted work, retrospective costs, profit-making activities or purely religious or political work. These exclusions reflect its focus on project-specific, charitable activities that directly benefit the community and align with its mission.

The Fund makes grants for project costs, including running costs, equipment and linked staffing. It prefers one-year grants over multi-year funding. Unsolicited applications are welcomed, and the Fund works in partnership with a local community foundation to manage its grant-making.
