Carlile Foundation Charitable Trust

The Trust funds charitable activities across a broad range of social issues, including support for children and young people, older adults, people with disabilities, and those experiencing poverty or mental health challenges. It also supports work in domestic abuse recovery, addiction support, refugee integration, and homelessness prevention. Examples of funded activities include counselling, peer support groups, after-school clubs, respite care, employment training, and community development. The Trust is open to both innovative projects and established services, and can cover project costs, core costs, and capacity building. Geographically, it supports charities operating in England and Wales.

Only registered charities based in England and Wales are eligible to apply. There is no restriction on the size of the charity, and the Trust favours grassroots and community-based organisations. It does not impose a religious requirement. Beneficiaries of funded work include children and young people, older adults, people with disabilities, those experiencing poverty, mental health challenges, domestic abuse, addiction, homelessness, and refugees. The Trust values lived experience and community leadership, and seeks to support organisations that strengthen communities and improve lives.

The Trust has no predefined exclusions beyond the requirement that applicants be registered charities operating in England and Wales. It does not restrict its funding to specific sectors or themes, allowing it to respond to diverse needs. The Trust does not exclude any particular cause area, beneficiary group, or size of charity, as long as the work falls within its broad charitable objects.

The Trust provides funding that can cover project costs, core costs, and capacity building. It operates with an unrestricted grant-making policy, giving trustees discretion to support a wide range of charitable activities. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications via the Ludlow Funding Enquiry Gateway and is open to both innovative projects and established services.
