Discworld Foundation

The Foundation supports a broad spectrum of causes, including mental health counselling and therapeutic activities for anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery; disability services such as respite care and inclusive activities for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, physical disabilities, and complex health needs; youth work including after-school clubs, mentoring, and employment training for young people aged 16-25 facing barriers, care leavers, or those experiencing SEND exclusion; elderly care through befriending and social isolation prevention; family and carer peer support groups; advocacy for families affected by domestic abuse, poverty, or food insecurity; education and literacy programmes; addiction recovery helplines and drop-in centres; refugee support; community development initiatives; conservation efforts enhancing environmental resilience; and health research driving preventative solutions. They fund across England and Wales.

The Foundation funds registered charities operating in England and Wales. They support organisations working with priority groups including children and adults with disabilities, young people facing barriers, elderly individuals at risk of isolation, families affected by domestic abuse or poverty, refugees, and other vulnerable communities. They value lived experience leadership and innovation in alleviating vulnerability, and prioritise charities that demonstrate compassion and a commitment to unrestricted public benefit. They welcome unsolicited applications from eligible charities.

The Foundation does not fund individuals. They also avoid supporting narrowly thematic or duplicative projects that lack broad public impact. This means they are unlikely to fund very specific initiatives or those that replicate existing services without clear public benefit. Funding is reserved for organisations that serve a wide community benefit across England and Wales.

The Foundation provides flexible grantmaking, with trustees exercising discretion in funding decisions. They prioritise equity, community empowerment, and holistic approaches, believing sustainable change emerges from broad backing of charities addressing root societal challenges through innovation and partnership. They support person-centred, community-led interventions and capacity building for grassroots charities. They welcome unsolicited approaches.
