Edinburgh International Festival Endowment Fund

The Fund supports only the charitable activities of the Edinburgh International Festival Society. This includes bold commissions of new work, engagements of international artists, educational outreach programmes, young artist development initiatives, and projects that expand access for underserved audiences. All supported activities take place in and around Edinburgh. The Fund advances artistic innovation, cultural exchange, talent nurturing, audience growth, and inclusive impact. It provides resources for world-class programming in music, theatre, opera, and dance, enabling the Festival to maintain its status as a global performing arts hub.

Eligibility is limited solely to the Edinburgh International Festival Society. The Fund does not accept applications from any other organisation, regardless of size, income, geography, or legal status. Its single-beneficiary model means that only the Festival Society can receive support. The Fund prioritises activities that align with its values of artistic excellence, accessibility, and social impact, but all funding decisions are made internally by the trustees.

The Fund does not accept unsolicited applications or fund any organisation other than the Edinburgh International Festival Society. It excludes capital projects, partnerships outside the Festival's remit, and all other causes. No support is available for external groups, regardless of their mission or location.

The Fund operates by invitation only, providing annual distributions to the Festival Society. Support may be unrestricted or directed to specific projects, and is designed to enable multi-year planning. The arms-length model ensures that endowment management remains separate from Festival operations, with trustees making prudent investment decisions to generate sustainable income.
