Cavell supports nurses, midwives, nursing associates, healthcare assistants, and maternity support workers across the UK who are in acute crisis. Causes funded include disability, physical health, mental health, poverty and hardship, domestic abuse, and challenges facing older people. Grants are for essential living costs, emergency needs, equipment, white goods, mobility aids, minor home adaptations, rent deposits, and debt relief order fees. Priority is given to those in genuine hardship, covering both current and retired professionals at all career stages.

Cavell funds individuals only, specifically UK-based nurses, midwives, nursing associates, healthcare assistants, and maternity support workers. Beneficiaries may be current or retired and at any stage of their career. The funder prioritises those facing financial crisis, health challenges, domestic abuse, rising living costs, work-related stress, or genuine hardship. No organisational or income restrictions apply, and both employed and registered professionals are eligible to seek support.

Cavell does not fund debts, holidays, private medical treatment fees, private education fees, nursing home fees, educational grants, study fees or course costs, legal fees, immigration fees, car purchase, or transport costs. Organisational projects and events are also excluded.

Cavell offers one-off hardship grants with the possibility of repeat support where justified. It emphasises rapid response and welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible individuals. The funder provides holistic aid, including benefits advice and emotional support alongside financial grants, and works to offer help to all who contact them.
