Elizabeth Frankland Moore and Star Foundation

The Foundation funds a wide range of causes, including medical and scientific research, support for vulnerable and marginalised people, war veterans, homelessness, human rights, the arts, education, and hospices. Grants support activities such as direct welfare, advocacy, creative programmes, youth services, heritage conservation, and cultural projects. Both project-specific and core costs are considered. Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities of any size, from small grassroots organisations to larger established charities. There are no income thresholds or regional restrictions: charities across England, Scotland, and Wales are welcome to apply. The Foundation also occasionally supports individuals. There is no religious restriction. The Foundation values organisations that are aligned with its broad charitable purposes and that demonstrate measurable impact.

The Foundation does not fund non-UK entities or activities that fall outside its broad charitable purposes. This means it does not support commercial ventures, political organisations, or causes unrelated to its focus areas such as medical research, social welfare, arts, education, and heritage.

The Foundation considers both project-specific and core costs. Grants are typically one-off or repeat, and unsolicited applications are accepted. The Foundation does not use online application forms, preferring a more direct approach. It is hands-on, with trustees making visits and attending events to understand the work. The style is non-bureaucratic, focusing on measurable outcomes.
