Global's Make Some Noise, the grant-making arm of Global Charities founded in 2002 by the UK media group Global, exists to improve the lives of disadvantaged people by partnering with small UK charities that lack the reach or resources of larger organisations. Its mission centres on bridging critical funding gaps for vulnerable communities through media-driven fundraising campaigns, guided by core values of inclusivity, collaboration, empowerment, transparency, and sustainability. Distinctively, it amplifies grassroots efforts via prominent radio and media platforms, prioritising evidence-based projects with measurable, sustainable outcomes in four key areas: shelter and safety for the homeless or at-risk; physical and mental health support for marginalised groups; life skills development for disadvantaged individuals; and social inclusion to combat isolation among children, young people, disabled individuals, those in poverty, or facing exclusion.

It funds time-limited projects delivering direct services—like anti-bullying initiatives, cystic fibrosis family support, literacy programmes, bereavement counselling, skills training for disabled youth, or loneliness schemes for older adults—plus select core costs and capacity building, across England, Wales, and Scotland.

Eligible applicants are exclusively UK-registered charities with annual incomes typically under £500,000 (max £1,000,000), operating grassroots or community-based services; larger national entities are excluded. Unsolicited applications are not accepted—organisations are pre-selected via open nomination calls promoted on media networks, then invited to submit expressions of interest followed by full proposals including project plans, financials, impact data, and safeguarding policies. Typical grants range £10,000–£30,000 (up to £40,000 exceptionally) for one-year projects, with invitation cycles tied to biannual campaigns (spring/summer, autumn/winter), deadlines notified individually 4–8 weeks in advance.

Unlike broad funders, it avoids emergency aid, capital costs, and well-resourced groups, standing out for its media integration, rigorous governance, and laser-focus on empowering overlooked small charities to drive tangible wellbeing gains.
