They support time-limited projects delivering direct services in four key areas: shelter and safety for homeless or at-risk individuals; physical and mental health support for marginalised groups; life skills development for disadvantaged individuals; and social inclusion to combat isolation among children, young people, disabled individuals, those in poverty, or facing exclusion. Examples include anti-bullying initiatives, cystic fibrosis family support, literacy programmes, bereavement counselling, skills training for disabled youth, and loneliness schemes for older adults. They also fund select core costs and capacity building. Their work covers England, Wales, and Scotland.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities that operate grassroots or community-based services. The funder prioritises small organisations serving disadvantaged groups, including children, young people, disabled individuals, those in poverty, or facing exclusion. Larger national entities are not supported. There is no religious restriction on eligibility. The funder looks for organisations that lack the reach or resources of larger charities, focusing on those making a tangible difference in their communities.

The funder does not provide emergency aid, capital costs, or support for well-resourced groups. Larger national charities are also excluded. Their focus is on community-based organisations that are often overlooked, rather than those already well-funded.

The funder works by invitation only, pre-selecting organisations through open nomination calls promoted on their media networks. They fund time-limited projects, and also select core costs and capacity building. Their fundraising model is media-driven, using prominent radio and platforms to raise funds. They support small charities across England, Wales, and Scotland.
