Global Justice Now Trust

Global Justice Now Trust, established over 25 years ago, is a democratic social justice organisation dedicated to promoting studies in political, economic, and social sciences for public benefit. Its mission is to foster a more just and equal world by addressing systemic inequalities through research, education, training, and poverty relief, empowering disadvantaged communities via knowledge, advocacy, and structural change. Rooted in values of democratic participation, equity, global solidarity, and evidence-based transformation, the Trust uniquely emphasises participatory approaches that build capacity, generate evidence, and influence policy on poverty, inequality, and social exclusion.

It funds UK-wide projects in England and Wales focused on social science research, public education, training, advocacy campaigns, and community engagement to tackle root causes of disadvantage. Priorities include initiatives advancing understanding of political, economic, and social issues for marginalised groups, with support for capacity building and public benefit activities that demonstrate clear impact.

Eligible applicants are exclusively UK-registered charities, typically small to medium-sized organisations with annual incomes under £1 million, pre-selected by trustees through networks—no unsolicited applications are accepted. Grants, decided at quarterly trustee meetings without fixed deadlines, range from £5,000 to £25,000 annually for specific restricted projects; core costs, capital, or emergency relief are excluded. What sets the Trust apart is its proactive, invitation-only model prioritising long-term social justice via democratic, research-driven advocacy rather than open calls.
