Heart of England Community Foundation

The Foundation funds a wide range of charitable work, including projects that relieve poverty, improve mental health and wellbeing, create opportunities for children and young people, and support ethnic minority communities. They also fund activities around community development, employability, digital inclusion, and the reduction of loneliness and isolation. Funded uses include project delivery, equipment, and training. The Foundation primarily supports small, local organisations working in specific geographic areas such as Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire, Birmingham, and the Black Country.

The Foundation supports registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, constituted community groups, companies, and social enterprises. They prioritise small, local organisations with an annual income typically under a certain threshold, operating in specific geographic areas such as Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire, and the Black Country. Beneficiaries include disadvantaged children and young people, vulnerable adults, older people, and deprived communities. The Foundation does not fund individuals, faith groups, schools, or national charities.

The Foundation does not fund animal welfare, medical research, capital building works, or activities that promote religious or political beliefs. They also exclude national charities, organisations with significant financial free reserves, and groups such as individuals, faith groups, schools, parish councils, or PTAs unless they demonstrate community benefit.

The Foundation offers grants for project delivery, equipment, and training. They welcome unsolicited applications and work through a portfolio of named funds, each with its own geographic focus. The Foundation favours a community-led approach, using data to identify unmet needs and direct resources to priority communities.
