Help Musicians UK

The charity funds activities that advance a musician's career, such as equipment, training, events, and transport. They support urgent needs through awards that require timing and critical opportunity, as well as longer-term development through awards focused on career progression, network building, and track record. A dedicated mentoring scheme and postgraduate study grants are also available. All funding is for individual musicians based in the UK, covering the whole country without regional bias.

Individual musicians living in the UK are eligible. The charity supports musicians at all career stages, from emerging to established. Applicants must be individuals – bands, collectives, groups, or organisations cannot apply. The focus is on musicians who can demonstrate a consistent dedication to their music career and clear goals. There is no restriction on musical genre or style.

Core costs, salaries, research, and laptops are excluded. Activities that would take place within six weeks of an application are not supported. Applications from registered charities, companies, schools, faith groups, community groups, social enterprises, or any other organisational form are not accepted. Funding cannot go to bands, collectives, or groups.

Grants are one-off and must be spent within a year of receipt. They fund equipment, training, events, and transport, but not ongoing costs. The charity welcomes unsolicited applications and assesses each on its merits, prioritising timing and career impact alongside the applicant's dedication and network. A mentoring programme provides additional non-financial support.
