Royal Engineers Central Charitable Trust

The Royal Engineers Central Charitable Trust (RECCT), governed by the Chief Royal Engineer and elected trustees under a Charity Commission-approved deed, is dedicated to promoting the welfare, esprit de corps, and heritage of the Corps of Royal Engineers and its wider community. RECCT funds benevolence and hardship grants, unit welfare projects, maintenance of the Royal Engineers Museum, production of 'The Sapper' magazine, and around 32 sports, games, and adventure training clubs to foster physical, social, and mental wellbeing. It backs events enhancing comradeship, heritage initiatives, mental health support, capital projects like club facilities and sports equipment, expeditions, and Operational Tour Grants up to £5,000 for deploying units, prioritising tangible impacts on community bonds and resilience.

Exclusively for Corps-affiliated individuals and initiatives (via internal referrals from groups like the Royal Engineers Association or RE Museum), it accepts no unsolicited applications, with decisions at quarterly trustee and sub-committee meetings. No geographic, entity, income, or size restrictions apply beyond RE ties, which extend UK-wide and internationally. Typical grants range from £500 to £250,000, favouring projects with evidenced need, impact, and alternative funding. It excludes ongoing running costs, salaries, travel, or Ministry of Defence-covered equipment, distinguishing itself as an institutional funder solely reinforcing the "Sapper family" legacy.
