It funds direct welfare grants for individuals (e.g., rehabilitation, adaptive equipment, wellbeing), support for families of fallen soldiers, equine care including veterinary and stabling for retired mounts, and regimental projects like heritage preservation, museum enhancements, commemorative events, and ceremonial activities that foster esprit de corps. Priorities emphasize the unique 'regimental family'—soldiers, ex-soldiers, dependants, and horses—delivered across England and Wales.

Eligible applicants are strictly UK-registered charities or organizations with direct Household Cavalry ties, such as Regimental Associations of The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals; external charities or the general public cannot apply. No income thresholds apply, but preference is for small/medium regimental entities. Grants range from £500–£30,000 (typical individual awards £hundreds–thousands; projects £5,000–£30,000), awarded on a rolling basis via internal regimental channels with needs assessment—no open applications, forms, or deadlines.

Distinctively, it excludes unrestricted/core funding, non-regimental causes, or replication of state/NHS provision, standing out for its exclusive focus on Household Cavalry welfare, equine bonds, and living military heritage in the UK landscape.
