Huntingdon Freemen's Trust

The Trust funds work in relief of need, including financial hardship and household essentials; education, such as bursaries and after-school programs; and recreation and leisure, including community centre improvements, sports facilities, and inclusive activities that tackle social isolation. They also support disability services, elderly care through befriending and day services, bereavement counselling, and carer initiatives offering respite and advocacy. All funding is directed to projects and activities that benefit residents of the Huntingdon Town Council area.

Individuals and organisations based in or serving Huntingdon residents can apply. Eligible organisation types include registered charities, community interest companies (CICs), community groups, and schools. The Trust prioritises support for local disadvantaged residents, including isolated elderly, low-income families, care leavers, disabled people, students, and carers. There is no religious restriction on applicants.

The Trust does not fund salaries, Master's or postgraduate studies for individuals, or companies registered with Companies House (except CICs). They exclude applications within 12 months of a previous award and projects that replace statutory funding or responsibility, such as educational or medical provision. Floor coverings are also not funded.

The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and funds a range of costs including project activities, equipment, and capital improvements. They prefer supporting grassroots interventions that address local disadvantage and do not usually fund salaries or job roles.
